Former Nickelodeon actor Josh Peck revealed on his podcast that he once came very close to playing the leading role in the “Twilight” series.

Peck claimed that he came close to scoring the role of the main vampiric protagonist of the series, Edward Cullen, People magazine reported.

“I remember it’s like 2006? 7? They’re like, ‘Audition for this movie, Twilight. It’s based on a book — it’s gonna be great.’ So I send in my tape … for Edward,” Peck recalled, People noted. (RELATED: Kevin Sorbo Blasts ‘Wussy’ Men In Hollywood)

“A month later, I’m with my manager. He goes, ‘It’s down to you and three guys. You’re close,'” Peck revealed, the outlet reported. “I’m like [surprised], ‘Really?’ I hadn’t even had a tummy tuck yet! I’m like, ‘There’s no way. He’s gotta be so shirtless. It’s not gonna happen.'”

Peck was overweight as a teenager, at one time weighing a reported 300 pounds, according to Sportskeeda. The actor has since lost a lot of weight due to dieting, the outlet noted.

The role eventually went to Robert Pattinson. The first “Twilight” series movie was released in 2008, according to IMDb. The five films of the series scored over $3.3 billion worldwide, the outlet reported.

Peck gained popularity on the teen sitcom, “Drake & Josh,” which aired from 2004 to 2007 on Nickelodeon.
