Police in Missouri arrested a teacher after she allegedly sent nude photos to a 16-year-old student, the River Front Times reported Wednesday.
Rikki Lynn Laughlin, 24, is facing six felony charges after allegedly sending nude photos and videos to and soliciting nude pictures from her student via Snapchat, according to River Front Times. Maries County Sheriff’s Office launched an investigation after receiving a tip from a Phelps County detective about an inappropriate relationship, KSDK reported.

News of the relationship had apparently spread fast, as Laughlin allegedly asked the student to delete the photos she sent him because people at school were talking, River Front Times reported. The student told investigators that “things moved fast” with Laughlin, noting that they had kissed after she reached out on Snapchat. He also allegedly told investigators that Loughlin had invited him to her home while her husband was out of town so the two could have sex. The student reportedly “made excuses for not meeting with Laughlin because he did not feel comfortable,” according to a police report obtained by River Front Times.
Investigators visited Laughlin’s home and received permission to search her phone after she alleged she didn’t know her student was a minor, per River Front Times.
Laughlin faces six felony charges of possession of child pornography, tampering with a victim, attempted statutory rape, sexual exploitation of a minor, tampering with physical evidence and sexual trafficking of a child. Any of those charges alone could land her a 20-year prison sentence, according to River Front Times.
