A new CNN poll appears to spell bad news for President Joe Biden as the 2024 presidential election is now less than a year away.

Former President Donald Trump is narrowly leading Biden, 49% to 45%, among registered voters, according to a Tuesday CNN poll conducted by SSRS. Most Americans, 61%, say Biden is part of the problem when dealing with the country’s issues, the poll shows. (RELATED: Dems’ Israel Split Could Spell Big Trouble For Biden In Michigan, Poll Finds)

Around 72% of Americans believe things within the country are going badly, up from 60% in March 2021, according to the CNN poll.

Fifty-one percent of voters say “there is no chance at all” they will vote for Biden in 2024, while 48% of Americans say they will not vote for Trump, according to the poll. Of voters under 35 years old, 48% support Trump and 47% Biden. Forty-five percent of independents chose Trump, while 41% supported Biden.

In 2020, Biden won the under-35 years old crowd by 21 points nationally, the poll shows. Biden also won the independent vote by 13 points.

Twenty-five percent of Americans believe Biden has the stamina and fitness to serve as president, compared with 53% of registered voters who believe Trump does, the poll shows. Of Democrats, 51% say the president has the stamina to be in office.

The CNN poll is the latest to show not-so-good news for Biden as several other surveys have showed him trailing Trump in swing states such as Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. The president’s approval rating among his own party has sunk to its lowest, 75%, slipping 11 points in October. Biden remains the current frontrunner for the Democratic presidential nomination, RealClearPolitics data shows.

Allies of the president are concerned Biden’s campaign is ignoring the polls and other political warning signs, all while failing to correct the course it appears to be on. Biden allies told The Washington Post they worry the president may be losing the support of black voters.

“We should bed wet a little,” one strategist told The Post. “We should be scared. We should be terrified about what might happen.”
