Convicted sex trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell is serving a 20-year sentence at FCI Tallahassee, and the prison is nasty, photos from a new inspection report show.

Photos from inside the Florida facility show rotting food, rodent droppings and filthy infrastructure, according to an inspection report released by the Office of the Inspector General (OIG) in November 2023.

The condition of the food and “storage operations” raised “serious issues,” such as rodent droppings and insects inside bags of dry cereal, according to the report. Accompanying images show moldy bread and discolored cucumbers inmates were allegedly served for lunch.

Inspectors found evidence of “significant water intrusion” in single-level housing units, and feminine hygiene products were used to plug leaky windows, according to the report. There were several broken cafeteria stools, warped window and cracks found in the walls, the report shows. (RELATED: REPORT: Ghislaine Maxwell Is Teaching Etiquette Classes In Prison)

In an Oct. 30 memo, the Federal Bureau of Prisons (FBOP) said in part, “[i]n response to this inspection, the FBOP has taken several steps to enhance operations at [FCI Tallahassee], particularly in the area of food service. … FBOP recognizes the importance of improving its physical infrastructure, increasing staffing, and improving safety and security.”

Maxwell has resided in the low-security Florida prison for more than one year since her transfer from Connecticut in July 2022. The prison housed 746 women and 294 men as of May 22, 2023, and has a total population capacity of 846 inmates, according to the OIG report.

Maxwell was found guilty on five of six charges related to her relationship with disgraced pedophile Jeffrey Epstein in December 2021. Epstein was found dead by apparent suicide in his jail cell Aug. 10, 2019, after allegedly trying to hang himself days earlier. Epstein denied having suicidal ideation when speaking to jail staff shortly before his death.
