As our families and loved ones gather around the Thanksgiving table, it’s hard to ignore the uninvited guest in the room, Bidenomics. I routinely hear from hardworking Americans in Upstate New York and across the country who continue to experience sticker shock at the grocery store because of Bidenomics, and this year’s Thanksgiving dinner is no exception.
According to data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), Thanksgiving dinner this year will be the most expensive in history. What is worse is the total increase in costs for a Thanksgiving dinner, which is about 26 percent more expensive than when Joe Biden took office. Biden’s Far Left agenda and out of control government spending is directly responsible for the sticker shock Americans are experiencing this Thanksgiving. Since Biden took office, prices have risen by an astonishing 17.1 percent while real wages have declined by 2.1 percent. Simply put, Bidenomics is crushing the American Dream as Americans are paying more for everyday necessities while making less.
Thankfully, last November, the American people sent a clear message to Biden and Extreme Democrats that they were fed up with Bidenomics and the skyrocketing inflation and lower wages it brings with it. House Republicans ran and won on our Commitment to America, which includes creating an economy that’s strong, and the American people elected a Republican Majority to the House of Representatives to deliver this for them.
House Republicans have hit the ground running to rein in Biden and Extreme Democrats’ reckless spending and restore fiscal responsibility to Washington. That’s why earlier this year, I introduced the REIN IN Inflation Act to hold the Biden Administration accountable for their out of control spending by requiring the Biden Administration to publish the inflationary impact of executive actions before enacting them. By passing my bill, House Republicans provided a critical check on the Biden Administration and took a step toward fulfilling our Commitment to America — an economy that’s strong. Unfortunately, Extreme Democrats still control the Senate and the White House and are determined to continue pushing their failed Far Left agenda and out of control government spending that accompanies it.
I know House Republicans’ work to deliver on our Commitment to America is far from over and that Americans across our great nation are struggling because of Joe Biden, Extreme Democrats, and Bidenomics.
But this Thanksgiving, I am thankful that there is a Republican Majority in the People’s House that is fighting to drive down inflation, provide an important check on Biden Extreme Democrats’ reckless spending, and is committed to restoring fiscal responsibility to Washington.
