Congressional Candidate, New York 22nd District

Assemblywoman Claudia Tenney first won election to the former 115th Assembly District in 2010. The 115th District covered parts of Oswego and Oneida Counties. In 2012, Claudia won re-election in both primary and general elections to the newly formed 101st District, which covers parts of Delaware, Herkimer, Oneida, Orange, Otsego, Sullivan, and Ulster Counties. In 2014, Claudia ran for Congress in New York’s 22nd District and was narrowly defeated by incumbent Richard Hanna.<br /> <br /> Claudia is consistently ranked as the top conservative legislator in New York. Claudia votes against tax increases and has introduced legislation to reduce taxes. She was the first to sponsor a bill to fully repeal the SAFE Act.<br /> <br /> Claudia is a frequent guest on Fox Business and has been published multiple times in the New York Post, Washington Times and National Review. She is also a frequent guest on Live from the State Capitol with host Fred Dicker and the John Gomez Show on Long Island News Radio. She has also appeared on the Sean Hannity Show, Laura Ingraham Show, the David Webb Show, Wilkow Majority and the Monica Crowley Show.<br /> <br /> Claudia is an attorney, businesswoman and advocate for the people of her district. She graduated from Colgate University and the Taft College of Law at the University of Cincinnati. She is currently co-owner and legal counsel to Mid-York Press, Inc., a commercial printing and manufacturing firm started by her maternal grandfather in 1946 in Hamilton, Madison County. Mid-York Press now currently employs nearly 80 people in the Chenango County community of Sherburne.<br /> <br /> Claudia was the only American employed by the Consulate General of Yugoslavia. Claudia has remained active with friends and colleagues from the former Yugoslav Consulate and with the large Bosnian refugee population in the Utica area. She also published and produced the first Bosnian newspaper in Utica.<br /> <br /> Claudia’s insight into public service has been shaped by experiences beyond politics, including juggling the demands of running a small business while raising her son as a single mother. Claudia remains an active member of our community and serves on numerous boards and volunteer organizations. She is also a member of the Advisory Board of The Center for Freedom and Western Civilization at Colgate University, whose notable members include Monica Crowley, the online opinion editor of the Washington Times, Fox News Analyst and syndicated radio show host.<br /> <br /> Claudia is the daughter of the late Cynthia and the late Honorable John R. Tenney. Judge Tenney served as a Justice of the Supreme Court of New York in the Fifth Judicial District from 1969 through 2003. Claudia is the mother of 2013 U.S. Naval Academy Graduate, Trey Cleary who is now serving as 1st Lieutenant in the U.S. Marine Corps.
