A veteran of political campaigns throughout the country since 1990, Doug Heye has served in leading communications positions in the House of Representatives and United States Senate, as well as serving in the George W. Bush Administration.

After working on several campaigns, in 1997 Heye arrived in the U.S. House of Representatives where he earned a reputation as an aggressive, yet pragmatic and effective communicator for former Congressman Richard Pombo. During this time, Heye was a player in Florida Recount, participating in Miami/Dade’s famed “Brooks Brothers Revolt.” When Pombo become Chairman of the House Committee of Resources, Heye served as communications director for the committee, helping Pombo earn praise from National Journal for a “statesman-like approach,” before leaving in 2003 to serve as press secretary for the U.S. Small Business Administration.

Heye returned home to his home town of Lewisville, North Carolina in 2004 to be communications director for Senator Richard Burr’s victorious, come-from-behind campaign. Following the campaign, Heye served as Burr’s communications director in the United States Senate. In 2006, Heye served as communications director for Michael Steele’s 2006 campaign for the U.S. Senate, a campaign many political observers called the best-run campaign that cycle and one that served as a model for active engagement with minority and “non-traditional” media.

Heye is a sought-after commenter on political events and public policy, making dozens of appearances on national and international television networks, including three hours of election night 2008 analysis for the Fox News Channel, and providing opinion and analysis for major news outlets.
