Ewell Smith serves as Executive director of the Louisiana Seafood Promotion and Marketing Board (LSPMB). Smith has held this position for nine years and is responsible for managing the marketing and promotional efforts for the Louisiana seafood industry, which has a $2.4 billion economic impact nationally. As Executive Director, he is responsible for the market development, promotional activities and educational outreach for all of Louisiana’s seafood products. He serves as a legislative liaison between industry and state and federal officials and serves as a spokesperson for the industry. Smith also serves as producer of the Great American Seafood Cook Off, which began in 2005 and airs nationally on Food Network and PBS.<br /> <br /> Prior to working for the LSPMB, Smith served as a marketing manager for three and a half years at the Southern Forest Products Association (SFPA) where he developed marketing strategies for the southern pine timber industry. Ewell traveled across the country speaking at major universities and architectural firms and developed their branding campaign, “Southern Pine by Design”. Prior to working with SFPA, Ewell worked as a Marketing Manager for GMR Marketing serving as a test market manager for Miller Brewing Company.<br /> <br /> Ewell holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of New Orleans and a Bachelor’s Degree in Science from Louisiana State University.
