Kevin Chavous
K12 Inc.Kevin is the president of Academics, Policy and Schools at K12 Inc. He served previously as executive counsel to the American Federation for Children/Alliance for School Choice.<br /> <br /> A former member of the Council of the District of Columbia and a former chairman of D.C.’s Education Committee, Chavous was responsible for enacting numerous education reforms in D.C. Chavous also presides as board chair for Democrats for Education Reform and is a former chair of the Black Alliance for Educational Options. He is an attorney and national school reform leader.<br /> <br /> He is the author of "Serving Our Children: Charter Schools and the Reform of American Public Education," and his most recent book, "Voices of Determination: Children that Defy the Odds." <br /> <br /> Chavous is involved with many education reform groups and is chair of Democrats for Education Reform (DFER) and a former chair of the Black Alliance for Educational Options (BAEO).<br /> <br /> Chavous was born and raised in Indianapolis, Indiana and graduated from Wabash College, where he was an NCAA All-American in basketball. He also graduated from the Howard University School of Law, where he was president of his graduating class. He lives in Washington, D.C.
