MILWAUKEE – Before the Diamondbacks’ Adam LaRoche came to the plate in the fourth inning Wednesday night, Mark Reynolds turned to a teammate in the dugout and recalled how, a year ago, they hit three home runs in an inning against Brewers pitcher Dave Bush.
As if on cue, LaRoche lined a home run off Bush to right field. Then Miguel Montero muscled up, blasting a solo shot. Then came Reynolds, whose tape-measure shot to center field brought Stephen Drew to the plate.
“I was like, ‘What am I supposed to do here?’ ” Drew recalled.
Drew merely did his part in equaling a major-league record by drilling a fourth consecutive home run and helping the Diamondbacks beat Milwaukee 8-2 at Miller Park.
Four batters, four homers.
“It was pretty cool to be a part of,” Reynolds said. “It was one of those weird things.”
