Thank You, Robert Gibbs

Rumor has it that many in the White House press pool believe that Robert Gibbs is the worst Press Secretary ever. Or at least the worst they’ve seen in their career. Gibbs’ latest remarks about the “professional left” definitely aren’t going to bump him out of that stereotype.

According to Gibbs, “these people ought to be drug tested.’ He’s referring not just to “the professional left” but to liberal activists, who – shocker! – wanted Obama to be the liberal we all know he is. Gibbs later left a sour bit of medicine in every liberal’s mouth:

“They will be satisfied when we have Canadian health care and we’ve eliminated the Pentagon. That’s not reality. They wouldn’t be satisfied if Dennis Kucinich was president.”

I, for one, am going to thank the Press Secretary. We now know that the Obama administration is coming to grips with the idea that liberalism at many levels isn’t reality. And to boot, Gibbs thoroughly ticked off a lot of liberals by basically saying they will not be looking to push a liberal agenda akin to what they want anytime soon. Is that hope, or is it change?

My advice to the liberals across this nation (and dead ones given the ability to vote post-mortem by ACORN): Just stay at home this November and in 2012. Democrats won’t do what you want anyway.

Enjoying the Spoils

Another example of the Obamas taking advantage of taxpayer dollars: First Lady Michelle Obama taking a lavish vacation to Spain. Now, I see nothing wrong with taking a vacation once in a while, and Spain is a fine place to do so – they are facing economic challenges, so their tourism industries could benefit from this. But you know, the American economy isn’t exactly perfect right now either.

Some would argue that her timing for this vacation wasn’t the best. For one thing, she missed President Obama’s Birthday, August 4th. I also find it interesting how only July 12th she was urging Americans to vacations to the Gulf. She herself did indeed visit the Gulf, which is great, but she has since been to Maine and of course, Spain.

Now, to be fair, it is being said that the Obamas personally covered the cost of this trip. But two guesses who paid for the staff and security that accompanied her. That’s right, you, the taxpayer.

Not a bad vacation, in my opinion. She brought her daughter, Sasha, and an undisclosed number of friends. They stayed at the beautiful Villa Padeirna. To top it all off, on her way back from Spain, she made a stop at Majorca to have lunch with King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofia at their summer palace.

Many have used the term “tone deafness” to define this trip.  I am afraid it is more than that.  Americans watching the first family take eight vacations this year while they suffer, see a presidency that claims to care about the plight of everyday people but chooses not to suffer alongside them.  The Obamas won the White House and all of the trappings, and anyone who thinks they are not going to enjoy the spoils better just get used to it.
