SUGAR CREEK, Mo. –A burglary suspect stripped off his clothes and rolled around in the mud to avoid arrest, officials at the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office said Thursday.
The trick worked for a couple of days but police finally snagged Justin K. Schmitt Wednesday afternoon.
“He was a stinking, muddy mess,” said Sgt. Lane T. Eitel of the Sheriff’s Department.
Sugar Creek police officers initially began looking for Schmitt on Monday, Eitel said. He was wanted for a burglary and for parole violations.
