It was a really long time ago. All the way back in January 2011 (go to 1 hour, 1 minute, and 19 seconds):
“But at a time when our discourse has become so sharply polarized, at a time when we are far too eager to lay the blame for all that ails the world at the feet of those who happen to think differently than we do, it’s important for us to pause for a moment and make sure that we’re talking with each other in a way that heals, not in a way that wounds.”
Obama was highly praised on both sides of the aisle for this speech, even though the rhetoric in question had nothing to do with Jared Lee Loughner’s actions.
Compare and contrast those stirring words with Obama’s reaction to Jimmy Hoffa’s sharply polarizing rhetoric:
Never mind, everybody!

P.S. Correction: Okay, okay, Obama did say something about Hoffa. He said he was “proud” of him.
P.P.S. If you want to play the “out of context” game, you might want to let Hoffa in on it. He says he meant every word.
