You’ve probably seen that Rep. Bobby Rush’s was escorted from the House floor for wearing a hoodie. As Dave Weigel quipped, “A racial issue appears in the news cycle; how long will Rep. Bobby Rush take to trivialize it?:
“Just because someone wears a hoodie,” Rush said, “does not make them a hoodlum.” This is obviously true. But does it warrant wearing inappropriate clothing on the House floor?
This strikes me as a sort of cheap stunt. I’m kind of against the notion of donning a costume and turning tragedies into performance art.
