I’ll tell you my opinion in a minute.
A shocking video which appears to show the racially motivated bullying of a three-year-old white girl by her five-year-old black neighbors is not what it appears say the father’s of the children involved.
Two clips uploaded to Facebook and entitled ‘When white people pi** black people off’, show a heartbreaking scene – a little Minneapolis girl trying to play with another group of girls who are encouraged to hit, push and verbally abuse the toddler at the encouragement of an older boy off camera…
In a wrenching scene, little Mackenzie attempts to share a toy with one of the older girls, but the older boy interrupts and tells her to ‘throw it on the ground’ – which she does, causing the girl to cry and run to pick it up…
Shocked and angered people began to make threatening calls to the father of the 12-year-old and younger girls, who has been identified by the MailOnline as ‘Eddie’ to protect his identity.
Viewing the video for himself, Eddie walked across to his neighbor Shawn Peterson to explain and apologize for his children bullying his daughter, which he had no idea about…
‘I honestly don’t know where it comes from. We don’t teach that in our household,’ Eddie, the father of the girls involved, said. ‘We’re not racist, none of that.’
Here’s the video:
If you want my opinion — and obviously you do, or you wouldn’t have read this far — I don’t think this is a racist incident. I think this is just little kids being cruel to each other. It’s some older children picking on a younger child to amuse themselves. It’s a tale as old as time. It has nothing to do with race. It has to do with the fact that kids are jerks.
And I believe their father when he says he’s mortified and ashamed of them. I believe that he and the father of the little girl have worked things out, like adults. Like concerned parents.
But…
I also think that if the races were reversed, if it was a bunch of white kids picking on a little black girl and it ended up on the Internet, it would be a media firestorm. Sharpton and Jackson would be booking flights to Minneapolis. President Barack Obama would have his speechwriters crafting the most racially divisive yet plausibly deniable statement possible. MSNBC would have all hands on deck. Their eyes would be shining with righteous fury.
Maybe next time, racebaiters. Fortunately for you, we have more of a conscience than you do. We won’t tell a lie, over and over and over, just because it might suit us politically.
We’re better than you. Our ideas are better than yours. And that’s why you have to keep doing this racebaiting horsecrap. By now, I expect nothing more.
