Texas Sen. Ted Cruz got a bad grade in a subject that matters the most: his fashion sense.
Women’s Wear Daily gave the “filibustering” freshman a below-average score on his fashion report card because of his ill-fitting shirt, turtle print tie, beer belly, Western-inspired belt and ostrich cowboy boots — which we would argue should raise his score.
Cruz got props for his “pricy-looking” tie (but not the print), his fancy gold watch and the attempt to bring a Texas flair to the staid Capitol Hill wardrobe, but WWD argues that the rest of his outfit was a failure and suggests that he should have spent some more time working out during the shutdown.
