The Internet age is not all it’s cracked up to be. If you clicked on any story on FT.com last night at 10:39 p.m., it was a sad state of affairs. On its surface, everything looked normal, but a click on any story led you to a simple “Sorry” message.

The weirdness was alerted to us via Politico‘s Ben White, who wrote on Twitter, “FT.com  why are you broken and denying me your pink-hued brilliance?”

The very polite woman at FT customer service took great care in figuring out what was happening. At first she declared that it was a “signing in” issue. But it was not. She, too, got the “Sorry” message when trying to click into a story. “There is a systems update that is ongoing right now,” she said. “Our IT are already aware about this and we’re fixing it.”

Within an hour the matter appeared to be solved.

Thank God. Now White can return to his pink pages.
