A lot was happening here in Washington this morning as journalists woke and set the tones of their day.
And many, frighteningly, well before 6 a.m.
This is a serious town of go-getters. Let’s see what they had on their plates, shall we?
Above is LAT‘s Maeve Reston‘s beautiful shot. She says, “Before Sunrise. Nice to be home.”
At 5:06 a.m. American Urban Radio’s White House Correspondent April Ryan had to take care of something rather touching.
Happy Birthday to my dad Robert Ryan. Wishes for a happy and blessed day.

But as you’ll note, it’s not all heartwarming at this hour. At 5:16 a.m. Sen. Ted Cruz‘s (R-Texas) senior speechwriter Amanda Carpenter was screaming.
I saw a mouse this morning and screamed. I’m not scared of mice. (Like Madeline, right?) The scream is instinctual. Ick!

NBC Washington morning anchor Angie Goff at 5:32 a.m. had her sights on something far sweeter.
Never too early to talk food. It’s National Cookie Day… do you have a favorite cookie. Love Pecan Sandies! #News4

And finally, at 5:38 a.m., Conservative blogger Robert Stacy McCain, meanwhile, had God (and hate) on his mind. What’s a little God and hate before dawn? Fun times.
Woke up this morning with an inspiration: Piss off the atheists. Just for fun. But don’t blame me. Blame God. Because you hate God, right?
