An anonymous woman made the Wednesday cover of the New York Post for appearing to snap a selfie with a suicidal man in the background about to jump off the Brooklyn Bridge.
“With scores of onlookers watching the dramatic 10 a.m. rescue by cops, the crass camerawoman turned her back to the scene, angled her phone toward the bridge and snapped a shot,” The New York Post article said. “The scarf-clad blonde even cracked a thin smile.”
In a Daily Mail interview, New York Post photographer Paul Martinka said “She was a tourist, I’m sure of that.”
The woman declined to give any personal information when approached by The New York Post, and quickly left the area after she was asked.
Police eventually talked down the man on the bridge, and he was later taken to a hospital for treatment.
