Tesla Motors CEO Elon Musk tweeted a cryptic teaser announcing a date for what could be the reveal of a new model Wednesday night, and the Internet — as one would expect — went ballistic with anticipation.

BTW, Tesla has a big booth here in Paris, but they did not give me the D. Shame, as I was really looking forward to seeing @elonmusk's D.

Musk’s announcement comes amid the start of the 2014 Paris Motor Show, where Lamborghini unveiled its first plug-in hybrid yesterday. (RELATED: Lamborghini’s New 910-HP Plug-In Hybrid Charges Ahead Of The Competition)
However as Mashable points out, only half of the attention was related to the car, as Musk’s choice of wording set off many pun-laden responses.

I love the Internet. Comments had me literally ROFL. No, it wasn’t intentional. Glad I didn’t mention the other letter!

Earlier this summer Musk unveiled more details about Tesla’s fourth product line, the Model 3, which will be the most affordable Tesla announced yet at half the cost of the leading $70,000-base Model S. The company’s Model X SUV is expected to begin shipping next year. (RELATED: S-E-X SELLS: Tesla’s New Model Fills Out The Company Lineup)
According to the tweet, Tesla fans will have to wait until Oct. 9 to get their first look at Musk’s “D”.
