Bruce Jenner confirmed that he was becoming a woman in an interview with Diane Sawyer on Friday, but his first wife Chrystie Scott said he told her long ago about his transgender feelings.

“I can’t remember the exact words because it was such a shock to me,” Scott, who Jenner had two kids with, said on “Good Morning America” Monday. (RELATED: Bruce Jenner: ‘I Am A Woman’)

But she does remember him saying he felt like a woman trapped inside a man’s body.

“It’s so hard to wrap your head around it, particularly because he was such a manly man. And he didn’t display any female style in any way.”

“He never indicated anything feminine in his demeanor, but it didn’t threaten me. It didn’t threaten our marriage.”

But Scott, who was married to the former Olympic athlete for ten years, said she was proud of him. (RELATED: Bruce Jenner: ‘I Am A Republican And A Christian’)

“I’m sure there are plenty of people that don’t have the courage to come out at all, ever. And they live private, dark, tortured lives and that’s tragic,” she said.

“That’s just tragic and the fact that he did share it with me that first year, I felt like it was actually a gift that he gave to me that he trusted me with something so intimate.” (RELATED: Kim Kardashian Says Family Is In Therapy Over Bruce Jenner’s Transition)
