Within the first few minutes of his interview with Diane Sawyer, and after months of speculation, Bruce Jenner tearfully confirmed that he is transitioning to a woman.
“Yes, for all intents and purposes, I am a woman,” the former Olympic athlete said.
“I’m not stuck in anyone’s body. This is how I am.”
The 65-year-old has been transitioning over the past few months, and divorced his wife Kardashian matriarch Kris Jenner after near 20 years of marriage.
Dressed in a blue button down and black pants, he shook his ponytail out, saying, “I’m me. I’m me.”

Jenner said he has always felt this way, and that when God made him he said, “Let’s give him the soul of a female and let’s see how he deals with that.”
“I would say I’ve always been confused with my gender identity since I was this big.”
Jenner, who said he’s still attracted to women, said being on “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” gave him a platform, and mocked rumors that he was doing the whole transition for show.

“I’m going to do some good and we’re gonna change the world.”
But why now?
“I just can’t hold the curtain any longer.”

Jenner has six biological children, and the oldest four were featured in the interview.
His son Brody said things “finally made sense,” and his daughter Cassandra said that when they asked what they should call him now, Bruce said, “Dad.”
They said they have all seen him dress as “her,” which is how they referred to Jenner as a woman throughout the interview.
Of all the Kardashians, Jenner said Kim has been the most supportive, and that the 34-year-old reality star said husband Kanye West “turned her around” about the situation when explained how he couldn’t imagine living as anyone “but me.”

Jenner confirmed that he has not had gender reassignment surgery yet, but it could be down the line.
“I would do it so quietly no one would ever know.”
