CNN’s Chief International Affairs correspondent Christiane Amanpour is assuming a new role: UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador. She said she wants to use the position to keep journalists safe around the world. She joins the ranks of actress Angelina Jolie, who occupied the position for the UN refugee agency.
UNESCO Director General Irina Bokova said she was “thrilled” with Amanpour as ambassador.
