House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi insisted the Democratic Party “should have more debates” in an interview Friday with the Los Angeles Times.

Pelosi said that “Hillary does well” in debates that that there should be more of them. The Minority Leader is among a growing number of key Democrats to speak out against the limited debate schedule. Both Bernie Sanders and Martin O’Malley have called for more debates.

Currently, the DNC will only have one debate before the New Hampshire primary and one debate before the Iowa caucus.

Pelosi did not give an ideal number of debates but said. “They thought 26 was too many [in 2008], and I think it is, and you probably should have something in between.

However, Pelosi indicated “I don’t know that we’re going to have more debates” than the ones already scheduled.

O’Malley said limiting the debate schedule is “insulting” and “beneath us as the party.” The first DNC debate is Oct. 13.

Both the Clinton campaign and O’Malley have blamed DNC Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz for limiting the number of debates.
