Rob Lowe came under fire over the weekend because of several comments he made on Twitter after the Paris terrorist attack that killed over 100 people on Friday.
The 51-year-old actor, who previously lived in France, criticized French president François Hollande for closing the country’s borders after he announced in September that the country would accept 24,000 refugees.
Oh, NOW France closes its borders. #Hollande

After he was heavily criticized by his followers, Lowe said that they had misinterpreted his tweets. (RELATED: Rob Lowe Slams Ariana Grande’s Weak Apology For Saying She ‘Hated Americans’)
Lived in France, and spend a ton of time there. Been in that stadium. This is all so devastatingly sad for a place I love. #FrenchPrayers

Wow. For you trolls out there, the phrase “Vive La France” is the traditional expression of SUPPORT for France. Don’t misinterpret my words. — Rob Lowe (@RobLowe) November 14, 2015
Many continued to slam his comments.
