Sen. [crscore]Ted Cruz[/crscore]’s national spokesman Ron Nehring complained on CNN Wednesday that John Kasich is still in the presidential race.
“John Kasich is a spoiler. Everybody knows this,” Nehring said on “At This Hour with Berman and Bolduan,” arguing that he thinks the Ohio governor is running to be Trump’s vice president. (VIDEO: Cruz Camp Downplays A Trump Victory In NY: Even ‘Insufferable John Kasich’ Won His Home State)
Host John Berman noted that Kasich “just beat [Cruz] by a lot in the state of New York, won delegates in the state of New York and is leading in the polls in the states that follow New York. We have a new poll out of Connecticut which has John Kasich running second to Donald Trump right there.”(RELATED: Trump Wins New York Primary)
“What did you mean by ‘insufferable’?” Berman asked.
“Oh, come on,” Nehring said. “I mean, John Kasich in the last month has won a grand total of three delegates. That’s almost as many as you’ve won in the last month. John Kasich is not going to be the Republican nominee for president. Everybody knows that, and his continued presence in the race only helps Donald Trump, which is why he seems to be campaigning for vice president.”
“But why does that make him ‘insufferable’?” Berman replied.
“Because John Kasich is a spoiler. Everybody knows this,” Nehring claimed. “This is nothing particularly now. He has no strategy for winning anywhere. And in fact he keeps on saying every time he loses a state, which is all of the time, he keeps on saying, ‘Oh no, no, no, no. The map going forward looks so much better for us.'”
“He said that he would do really, really well in New York. He won three delegates. You need 1,237 in order to win the nomination. He’s been eliminated from this contest effectively. He’s not going to become the nominee no matter what.”
