Snapchat unveiled a special Bob Marley filter on Wednesday, and liberals immediately criticized it for promoting the use of hi-tech blackface.
The filter, in celebration of the unofficial international hemp holiday “420,” lays reggae legend Bob Marley’s features across the user’s face, which is apparently a big no-no for Social Justice Warriors.
The Bob Marley snapchat thing is blackface in 2016 effectively. Digital disrespect

Can @Snapchat explain to me why there’s a Bob Marley filter on 4/20? You realize he did more than smoke weed, right? pic.twitter.com/xPCOU5uQko

Bob Marley was a revolutionary, a critical thinker & a true humanitarian… somehow he’s been reduced to the face of a weed celebration day.

I get that @Snapchat probably want to capitalise on 4/20 without DIRECTLY referencing it; but their answer is a blackface Bob Marley filter?

Snapchat has made a “Bob Marley” filter for 4/20? Lol don’t reduce the brother’s legacy to nothing more than a weed mascot for white hippies
— Jordan Rose (@ZER0DayVirus) April 20, 2016
They reduce iconic black activists to symbols which are appropriated and whitewashed. Bob Marley is now a mascot for weed and hippies

4/20, and you choose Bob Marley to be some sort of filter.
He’s legend with a message, and you remember him for weed
What a mess this is ..— Arsenal Karen (@Karen_Arsenal) April 20, 2016
Still, others were less concerned with the filter than those who took time to criticize it.
Viking filter = fine.
Bob Marley filter = appropriating Rastafarian culture.

Is even liking Bob Marley now “cultural appropriation?” >> https://t.co/5sC3wXjFr3

If you’re triggered over “black face” Bob Marley you need to uninstall Snapchat and uninstall your life

We’ve witnessed Bob Marley’s legacy being reduced to nothing more than a stoner for the last two decades and now you’re upset about it ?
