David Allan Coe is in trouble with the law.

The 76-year-old country crooner has been ordered to pay the Internal Revenue Service almost $1 million after he pleaded guilty to tax evasion and failing to pay $466,000 in back taxes, interest and penalties, Page Six reported Tuesday. (RELATED: Loretta Lynn Just Got Some Devastating News…)

“Mr. Coe chose to impede and obstruct the due administration of the IRS in an effort to brush aside his duty to file and pay taxes and is now a convicted felon,” an IRS agent told the Post.

Prosecutors said that Coe avoided taxes by asking to be paid in cash at the 100 concerts he played between 2008 and 2013. He was sentenced to three years of probation in a Cincinnati court. (RELATED: This Huge Country Star Just Revealed The Republican She’s Supporting For President)

During an interview in 2010, Coe said he had been in and out of prison for 20 years.

“By the time I was 9 years old I had been in prison for two years,” he said.
