Republican front-runner Donald Trump took a break from his trip to Scotland Friday morning to voice his support of the British vote to exit the European Union.

I think it is a great thing that happened, They took their country back,” Trump told reporters during a press conference.

Trump is in Scotland to open his newly-redesigned golf course in Turnberry, Scotland. Eric Trump, Donald Trump’s son, headed up the construction project that started in 2014.

The timing of the visit puts Trump in the middle of the “Brexit” vote. British officials announced the vote date in mid April, giving Trump months to plan the trip. Republican leaders criticized the Trump campaign’s visit, claiming it puts business interests above political campaigning.

Trump quickly tweeted once the results of the vote were announced:

“They’re angry over borders, over people coming into the country and taking over,” Trump told reporters. Trump wasted no time turning the event into a campaign boost.

Trump later tweeted again his support:

Trump told reporters that a “Trump presidency” would recognize Britain’s decision to leave, further bolstering the official perception of his campaign.

Another positive for the Trump campaign is the announcement that UK Prime Minister David Cameron will resign. Cameron said of Trump’s ban on muslims earlier this year, “divisive, stupid and wrong.”
