The long, dramatic national mystery is over. Well, sort of.
Meredith McIver, a in-house staff writer for the Trump Organization, is taking full responsibility for the plagiarism in Melania Trump‘s RNC speech that has turned the last 48 hours into a total nightmare. In a formal statement released by the campaign, she described herself as a “longtime friend and admirer” of the Trump family.
A shocker: she said Melania has always been a fan of Michelle Obama.
McIver said she offered her resignation to the Trumps on Tuesday. But they refused to accept it, with Trump saying, “People make innocent mistakes and that we learn and grow from these experiences.”
She expressed her gratitude for the way Trump handled the matter.
This should give pundits something to chew on for the next 24 hours — at least.
