YouTube user “FullMag” shot a baseball with a .50 caliber sniper rifle to find out how much damage the ball could take.
A baseball is certainly capable of not being fully penetrated by smaller calibers. For example, a .22LR fired out of a handgun with it’s velocity under 1,000 FPS has essentially no chance of penetrating all the way through. (SLIDESHOW:
That’s not a problem the .50 caliber cartridge faces. “FullMag” had absolutely no problem blowing a clean hole directly through the baseball.
So hiding behind a stack of baseballs is clearly not an option if somebody breaks into your house while slinging .50 caliber bullets at you.
