Colin Kaepernick’s jersey is now the top-selling NFL jersey, Forbes reports.
His shirt sales have jumped since he began to sit during the pregame national anthem to protest the oppression of racial minorities.
On Monday, the quarterback’s jersey was the third best selling in the NFL. By Wednesday, Kaepernick’s No. 7 jersey had climbed to the top seller spot on NFLShop.com.
Kaepernick’s decision to protest has caused some to burn the San Francisco quarterback’s jersey in disgust of his disrespect for the flag. Others have purchased his jersey in support of his protest. (RELATED: Kaepernick’s Jersey Sales Are Third Highest In NFL Since Protest)
Kaepernick posted a collection of pictures on Instagram in response to the rise in his jersey sales. Rappers J. Cole and Trey Songz are at the top left and top right, respectively, sporting the QB’s jersey during their performances over the long weekend.
Kaepernick claimed in the caption that he plans on “donating all the proceeds” from the sales “back into the communities.” (RELATED: President Obama On Kaepernick: It’s Tough For Veterans To Get Past What He’s Doing)
ESPN’s Darren Rovell previously reported that Kaepernick’s 49ers jersey was “sixth all year prior to his protest.”
Kaepernick will start the regular season where he sits during the national anthem — on the bench, backing up San Francisco starter Blaine Gabbert.
