Oklahoma Sooners backup quarterback Austin Kendall apparently isn’t too worried about his team’s game against third-ranked Ohio State.
“I think they have a really basic defense. I think we can go out there and, uh, Baker (Mayfield), he’ll light them up. I’m really looking forward to it, and if my number’s called I think I can do the same,” Kendall told the media with plenty of swagger in his tone. It’s hard to quantify how cocky of a comment that is by Kendall. He knows fully well that there’s near zero chance superstar Sooners quarterback Mayfield comes out and he must go in. He’s setting up his team’s offense to get absolutely crushed and he won’t have to take a single step onto the field or a single hit.
Ohio State plays Oklahoma Saturday night and there’s no doubt that the Buckeyes will have a response for Kendall’s comments about their “basic defense.”
