Julia Louis-Dreyfus Apologizes For Trump At Emmys
Julia Louis-Dreyfus “personally apologized” for Donald Trump and the “current political climate” during her acceptance speech at the Emmys.
On Sunday night, the 55-year-old actress thanked all her crew, writers and staff as she accepted the best actress award in a comedy series for her political comedy “Veep” during the 2016 Emmy Award Show. (RELATED: ‘Veep’ Star On Trump-Clinton Race: ‘Political Comedy’)
“While I am apologizing I would also like to take this opportunity to personally apologize for the current political climate,” Dreyfus said. “Umm, I think that ‘Veep’ has torn down the wall between comedy and politics. Our show started out as a political satire but it now feels more like a sobering documentary.”
“So, I certainly do promise to rebuild that wall and make Mexico pay for it.”
The comedic actress made it clear during the Democratic National Convention in July that she would give Hillary Clinton her full support when she tweeted that she was “with her.”
