The governor of Virginia — a close friend of the Clintons who once ponied up $1.35 million in cash to help them buy a house in New York  — said he doesn’t see a third presidential run in her future.

“I’ve had many conversations with the Clinton family,” McAuliffe said during a radio interview Thursday. “We’re friends. It’s hard, very tough. I think on Election Day everybody felt pretty good. I think the Trump campaign thought they were gonna lose. And you know, this is what happens in elections.”

“I don’t think Hillary has any interest in running again,” he continued. (RELATED: Hillary Clinton Cancels Victory Fireworks Show)

“I’ll let her speak for herself. I haven’t asked her that. I think the president’s probably going to go back, working on all the good deeds he’s done before in helping people around the globe. You know, there are elections. We’ve got to move forward.”

“As governor of Virginia, I’ve got to move forward.”

Clinton has made only two public appearances since losing — once at her concession speech and to present an award at a UNICEF event.

McAuliffe said he sent Donald Trump a letter congratulating him the day after the election.

“I have known Donald Trump for 20 years, had dinner with him, golfed with him,” he said.  (RELATED: A Hillary Supporter Admitted Himself To The Psych Ward On Election Night When He Realized She Was Losing)

“When I ran [for governor] in ’09, he actually wrote me a $25,000 check. So I look forward to a productive relationship. Would I much prefer to have President Clinton and Vice President Tim Kaine from Virginia? Of course. But it is what it is.” (RELATED: Everyone Is Talking About The Rare Public Appearance Hillary Clinton Made Last Night)
