Monday marks the 20-year anniversary of the first Harry Potter book being released, and people are drudging up old memories of the series on social media.
“Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone” was released June 26, 1997, and what happened next with the series shocked the world.
The seven book series spawned eight film adaptions, and the movies are believed to have made nearly eight billion dollars at the box office.
The series sparked an entertainment phenomenon that had arguably not been seen since the days of “Lord of the Rings.”
People chimed in on their respective social media account praising the literary success and the smashing fortunes at the box office.
