Republican South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott absolutely destroyed a NYC-based writer after she accused him of never talking to a “struggling family.”
One user knocked Scott for noting that $100 a month is “real money” for a poor family, to which Melissa Jo Peltier wrote, “are you serious?”
“When was the last time you spent w/a ‘struggling family’?” Peltier snarked.
@SenatorTimScott – are you serious? When was the last time you spent time w/a “struggling family”?

Scott hit back, informing her that he grew up poor.
“You mean…besides growing up in a poor single parent household where we had to use the oven to heat the house? Or when we couldn’t afford Christmas presents? Or when I owned 4 shirts total?” Scott asserted.

We hope Melissa can recover.
