Sen. Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts kicked off Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Monday by calling President Donald Trump a “racist bully” whose supporters are “white supremacists.”

“We face the challenge of an openly racist president of the United States,” the Democratic senator said Monday at an MLK Day breakfast in Boston.

The senator’s attacks did not stop at calling the president racist. She continued calling the president a bully and referenced the “shithole” comment the president reportedly said during a meeting with congressman.

“Donald Trump is a racist bully and we know how to deal with bullies. We do not back down,”  Warren said. “We do not shut up. We fight back. And no matter what they throw at us, nevertheless, we persist. When a racist bully talks about people who march with white supremacists and Nazis as ‘very fine people.’ When he refers to ‘shithole’ countries in Africa, and when he uses that hateful rhetoric to push discrimination in America, you better believe: we will fight back!”

Warren is highly expected to run against Trump in the 2020 presidential election cycle.

Warren has yet to make a formal announcement for a 2020 run, however, she has maintained a national profile throughout Trump’s first year in the White House. Warren took on Trump and Republican leadership during their push to repeal Obamacare, even offering up her name as a co-sponsor for Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont single-payer health care bill.

The Massachusetts senator also took a stand against Republicans during the recent tax reform campaign, although Republicans ultimately won out.

Her stands against Republicans and the president on the national stage has earned her roughly $13 million in campaign donations, that could prove vital going into both 2018 and a possible 2020 cycle.
