Conservative commentator Ben Shapiro slammed Barack Obama Thursday after the former president tweeted about young people leading “all our great movements.”
Young people have helped lead all our great movements. How inspiring to see it again in so many smart, fearless students standing up for their right to be safe; marching and organizing to remake the world as it should be. We’ve been waiting for you. And we’ve got your backs.

Shapiro responded by dropping a bomb on Obama’s rhetoric.
You agree with their agenda, so you’re praising “youth leadership” generally. That’s dishonest. Young people have also helped lead some of our dumbest and worst movements. https://t.co/aBTGXkemcb

Obama tweeting about “young people” is likely a reference to the students of Marjory Stoneman Douglas high school who recently witnessed a mass shooting.
Some of the students have come out forcefully in favor of gun control, but not all students are promoting gun control. (RELATED: ‘They’re More Concerned About Gun Control’ — Stoneman Douglas High School Student Slams The Media)
