Judge Andrew Napolitano backed up President Donald Trump’s criticism of Attorney General Jeff Sessions on Wednesday, wondering if Sessions is too busy giving speeches to be an effective AG.
WATCH:
After Sessions announced an investigation into alleged FISA warrant abuses, Trump tweeted that the investigation would be too slow and should be done through Department of Justice lawyers.
Why is A.G. Jeff Sessions asking the Inspector General to investigate potentially massive FISA abuse. Will take forever, has no prosecutorial power and already late with reports on Comey etc. Isn’t the I.G. an Obama guy? Why not use Justice Department lawyers? DISGRACEFUL!

Napolitano argued on Fox Business Network that Trump’s criticism was spot on, noting that the investigation would be done by the inspector general.
“That’s going to take forever,” Napolitano explained. “The inspector general cannot indict, the inspector general only reports whether or not internal justice department…regulations have been violated.”
“Give it to a team of FBI agents and let them investigate whether or not the law was violated!” he exclaimed. “That’s what the president is commenting on.”
Anchor Stuart Varney asked Napolitano if he was dissatisfied with Sessions, to which Napolitano sassily remarked, “Do we still have an Attorney General?”
“I feel badly about this personally…because he’s my friend,” Napolitano admitted. “But he seems to be not there…all he seems to be doing is making speeches, not running the DOJ. I think the president shares that frustration.”
