An incredible tribute to American war movies was played during the Oscars Sunday night.
I’m a huge fan of movies, but I’m really starting to hate the Oscars. It’s nothing more than a bunch of rich celebrities coming together, and trashing the Americans inside of the coasts. It’s unbelievable boring, predictable and painful to watch.
However, occasionally we do get an outstanding moment. Last night viewers were treated to a short segment honoring the military, veterans and the movies that have told their stories.
Actor Wes Studi, who served and fought in Vietnam, introduced the segment. He dropped the mic on the audience when he told the celebrities in attendance of his time in Vietnam. He ended by asking if anybody else had served. Of course, the room was pretty much silent. That just about says all you need to know about Hollywood.

War movies have a special place in our society. I understand that some people view them as unnecessary or over-the-top. I couldn’t disagree more. War films give Americans a small look inside a world most of us will never know or understand.
There are some stories that need to be told. For example, “Lone Survivor” and HBO’s mini-series “Band of Brothers” are two of the greatest war stories ever put on film, and Americans should learn what sacrifice looks like.
The Oscars might be becoming more and more worthless by the year, but the film tribute Sunday night was incredible. Well done to everybody involved in putting it together.
