Although the most recent edition of ABC’s “Bachelor” has concluded, drama continues to follow Arie Luyendyk Jr. wherever he goes.
The beleaguered Bachelor battled his fair share of criticism after he proposed to both finalists and didn’t seem to feel bad about the fallout. And while he’s kept a pretty low profile since last month’s finale, he reemerged on social media to pull a little prank on all of his followers.
“Secrets finally out, we have a bunny in the oven!” he said on Sunday, tagging his fiancé, Lauren Burnham.

He waited about two hours before revealing the whole thing was made up. Just a classic April Fool’s joke.
APRIL FOOLS!

Pretty much nobody found the joke funny though.
come on. be better than that. it’s not a joke for many struggling families to get pregnant, it’s extremely expensive and it’s heartbreaking. I wish nothing but the best for Arie and Lauren but this is not funny, it’s cruel

So distasteful. You thought the world was against you before. You just poured gas on that fire. Hopefully you two don’t have to struggle with this issues so many women face each day. pic.twitter.com/VbwaOGdJh8

Shame on y’all for this. So many women are trying everything they can to conceive and then you joke about this? It’s just really in poor taste.. A “we eloped” photo would have been much more appropriate.

While Arie made it pretty easy to dislike him this season, some of these reactions seem pretty overblown. It seems like Arie forgot that this is 2018 and you can’t joke about anything anymore.
My goodness. I remember a society when it was ok to tell an April fool’s joke without everyone getting so upset. Everyone just wants to be offended by something these days. *SMH*

It looks like Twitter won this one though. Better luck next year to the (hopefully) happy couple.
