French president Emmanuel Macron just addressed Congress, and what he said about the United States military made the whole room stand up and cheer.
“Terrorist networks span a footprint as large as Europe. French and American soldiers are confronting the same enemy and risking their lives together,” Macron said.
“Here, I would like to pay special tribute to the American soldiers who fell this past fall in the region and to their French comrades who lost their lives earlier this year in Mali.”
“Better than anyone I think our troops know what the alliance and friendship between our country means.”
The room then erupted into applause.
