John Cena admitted he’s done an “about-face” when it comes to having a child and now says he “would love to be a dad” after calling off his wedding to Nikki Bella in April.
“Of course, I would love to be a dad. And by the way, that’s an about-face for me and I realize very much that I have been steadfast in saying that I don’t want children,” the 41-year-old actor told TMZ Monday.
“But I’m a little older now, a little wiser,” he added. “At age 18 we say things different than age 25 and 35. I would love, only because I dedicated my life to my work and now I’m realizing there’s life and it exists and it is beautiful. I think part of that is being a parent so we’ll see. Is that good enough for you?”
He was also asked about the status of him and Bella’s relationship and if he still wanted to marry her, after the two announced that their engagement was off only days before they were set to tie the knot.
“It’s something I would like if the situation is right,” the pro wrestler explained.
Last week, a rep for the “Total Bellas” star confirmed the two were “working on their relationship” and thanked fans for all their support.
“Nikki Bella and John Cena are working on their relationship and taking it day by day,” a spokesperson for Bella explained. “They appreciate all of their fans and their continued support.”
In a recent interview, Bella admitted something “felt off” after they got engaged, because she knew she wanted to have children and he made it clear he did not.
