“We love winners,” Trump said after telling a story about legendary basketball coach Bobby Knight. “Bobby. Jack Nicklaus. Tiger. How about Tiger, the comeback hes been on right? Tiger!”

“Did you see the ‘Fake News’ try to fake out Tiger?” he asked the cheering audience. “They didn’t do too well. Tiger’s sharp. Now we love winners. We love winners. our country is becoming a winner and our country is respected again.”

Woods answered a reporter’s questions about Trump last Sunday at The Northern Trust by acknowledging his “respect” for the office of the presidency.

“Well, I’ve known Donald for a number of years,” Woods said. “We’ve played golf together and you know we’ve had dinner together. And so yeah, I’ve known him pre-presidency and obviously during his presidency.”

“Well, he’s the President of the United States and you have to respect the office,” Woods said when the reporter tried to bring up the issue of race. “No matter who is in the office, you may like, dislike the personality or the politics, but we all must respect the office.”
