The World Series didn’t draw as many viewers as you’d expect when the Boston Red Sox won the title against the Dodgers Sunday night.

A little more than 14.5 million people tuned in to watch the Red Sox win their latest championship, according to TVByTheNumbers. That was well below the more than 23 million people who were watching NFL on Fox prior to the baseball game. (RELATED: Red Sox Fans Pulled One Of The Most Disrespectful Moves In Sports History During World Series Game 1)

According to the Hollywood Reporter, it brought in the worst television ratings since at least 2015.

It’s absolutely wild to me that more than 23 million people were watching Fox moments before the game started, and then more than a third of them tuned out as soon as the World Series started. That’s not a great sign for baseball.

Of course, I don’t think anybody would really try to argue baseball is more popular than football at this point. The “SNF” game and pregame had a combined more than 30 million viewers. It wasn’t even close.

You might hate these numbers if you’re the MLB, but you have to love them if you’re the NFL. They’re putting up huge numbers.
