Arizona State football coach Herm Edwards dropped an outstanding quote after losing their bowl game 31-20 to Fresno State Saturday.
Edwards told the media, “We didn’t lose the game. We actually just ran out of time in this one. That happens sometimes in football.”

It’s one of the greatest spin zones that I’ve ever seen, and it’s an all-time favorite. You’re not a real athlete if you haven’t used this line before.
We don’t lose. We just didn’t have enough ticks left up on the clock. It’s that simple. What if you lose 49-0? Well, I can promise you that you would have made a comeback if only there were more time. It’s that simple. I love that mentality.
Of course, is anybody really surprised we have another great quote from Edwards? The man is a soundbite machine. Who could ever forget his wonderful rant below?
I really do hope Edwards sticks around at ASU for awhile. They finished above .500 this year, and he seems to have them going in the correct direction.
College football is simply better when a guy like him is slinging quotes for the ages after losses.
