Actor Danny Trejo helped feed 800 families in East Los Angeles through his restaurant Trejo’s Tacos.

Trejo’s Tacos partnered with the Everest Foundation to host a drive-up food giveaway for front-line workers and their families, according to an article published Monday by Fox News.

“This year has been very difficult for many of us, including most of our friends in the hospitality industry,” Trejo’s Tacos wrote on Instagram. “These donations not only provided for the most vulnerable but helped keep our doors open. We are grateful for the opportunity to continue to serve our community. Thank you from the bottom of our heart.” (RELATED: Danny Trejo Rescues Special Needs Child Trapped In Overturned Car)

There was security at the event to make sure social distancing protocols were being followed along with enforcing mask-wearing.

“During this difficult time, we want to give thanks to the East L.A. Community, especially our front-line workers that surround that facility, by spreading some joy this holiday season,” Dr. Michael Everest told NBC Los Angeles. “We are grateful to be working with Trejo’s Tacos to, once again, give back to such an important community.”

I love seeing celebrities really find a way to give back to the community. It’s refreshing to see a celebrity actually doing something instead of preaching to everyone else what they should be doing during this time. Trejo, who has starred in movies such as “Machete” and “Desperado,” has held multiple events to give back to the community with his restaurant Trejo’s Tacos.
