A Virginia man was jailed after allegedly flying across the country and kidnapping a 12-year old girl who he had groomed online, ABC News reported.
The alleged kidnapper flew to Fresno, California, in December and took a ride-share car to the victim’s home where he persuaded the girl to sneak out of her house around 2 a.m. The ride-share driver then took them to the Fresno Yosemite International Airport where the kidnapper disguised the girl and got her on a flight, ABC News reported.
After the victim’s parents reported her missing, a team of detectives and federal agents tracked down 40-year-old Nathan Larson. They rescued the girl when she and Larson landed in Denver for a layover on their way to the East Coast. She had not been physically harmed, but investigators did find evidence of “inappropriate activity” between her and her kidnapper, according to ABC News. The Fauquier County Sheriff’s Office said in a Facebook post that Larson “remains in custody in Colorado and is awaiting extradition to California facing multiple other charges in Fresno County for kidnapping, child abduction, soliciting child pornography from a minor and meeting a child for the intention of sex.”
Mims also said Larson had previously served time in prison for threatening to assassinate the president of the United States in 2008, ABC News reported.
