The president of the Rochester, New York, chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) recently admitted he accidentally sent a picture of his genitalia to a 19-year-old colleague, as reported by Fox News.

Ernest Flagler-Mitchell, also a legislator in Monroe County, said the picture was “intended” for his “wife” but accidentally sent to a person he “was working with,” the Democrat and Chronicle reported.

The 19-year-old has argued the incident is sexual harassment, according to Fox News.

Flagler-Mitchell said he apologized to the woman in the direct fallout of sending the picture, and added the woman accepted his apology and “assured me that they were not offended,” as reported by Fox News.

The woman claimed that Flagler-Mitchell started harassing her after she became a victim of a shooting in September of last year, according to Fox News.

“I am writing this so that you are all aware of the type of person he is,” she wrote in a statement, according to WHEC-TV. “I am going public and will be asking for his resignation. No one should be in a position where they turned to their elected official for help and are met with unwanted sexual advances and inappropriate messages. I am only 19 years old,” she added. Flagler-Mitchell claimed the photo has been used as a means of extortion, and have invited authorities to investigate the incident. “I fully believed this matter was resolved at that time, but subsequently I have been contacted both directly and indirectly by politically connected individuals who have tried to use this mistake as a form of blackmail to force me into abandoning the Black and Asian Caucus in the Legislature,” Flagler-Mitchell wrote, according to Fox News.

The 19-year-old has asked for investigations of her own, and solicited a Monroe County ethics committee investigation, Fox News reported. She believes she is not the only one who has been harassed by Flagler-Mitchell over the years. “The fact that he did this to me so swiftly lets me know that he has done this before,” the victim’s statement added, as reported by Fox News.

Monroe County’s District’s Attorney’s Office is currently investigating the incident, the Democrat and Chronicle reported.
